Located on at the NE 82nd Ave Tri Met MAX stop in Portland, OR, "How They Grow" mural series is painted by Alex Chiu. It explores community and diversity, by depicting a toddler and her interactions with different people, as well as a the whimsical experiences of being a kid. All the children depicted in the mural are from families in East Portland.

TriMet created a Public Art Program in 1992 to infuse art into the city's public transit system. Since then, they have worked with more than 180 artists to create original art for MAX and bus stations.
